How it works

What chord formats does it understand?

Chords on their own line above the lyrics (the usual tab-site format), or inline chords in brackets like [Am]. It handles sevenths, sus, add, dim, aug, extended chords, and slash chords like D/F#. Lyrics are left alone.

How is the original key detected?

It scores the chords in your chart against every major key and its relative minor, and picks the best fit. If it guesses wrong, set the original key yourself. The amount you shift is all that matters, so the transposed chords will still be correct.

When should I use a capo?

If the new key is full of barre chords (like E♭ or B♭), pick a capo position. The chart is rewritten in easy open shapes, and the capo makes them sound in the key you chose.

Sharps or flats?

"Auto" spells chords the way they're normally written in the target key: flats for F, B♭, E♭, A♭, and D♭, sharps for everything else. You can force either one.
